Hospital Management System For a Super Speciality Hospital

Client profile:

A 400 bed super specialty hospital. The client needed a Hospital Management System that provided a process-oriented, end-to-end, value-rich solution using the latest software technology.

The solution:

Our team worked with the client to define the functional and process requirements. The solution is extremely flexible in design and allows for easy maintenance and enhancements. The product provides Patient Administration, Billing and Pharmacy Management functions for small and medium hospitals.

Patient Administration covers all information relating to a patient and includes locating the Customer Registration Number, Recording of each visit, Admissions, Transfers and Discharge, Maintenance of Insurance Details, and Linking Insurance Policy to a visit. The major functions are Allocating Registration and Recording Personal Details, Handling Hospital Admissions and Assigning Insurance Details for Billing, Recording Transfers within the hospital and Creation of Discharge Summary and Recording Discharge Details.

The Cash and Billing module allows Billing and Payments, looks into Multiple modes of Payment and Rates Definition for Services. The billing features allow for special schemes to promote hospital loyalty through special discounts for patients who register and utilize long-term care. The system also handles Outstanding Tracking and Collections for individuals as well as corporates.

Pharmacy and Consumables management includes Maintenance of Drug Composition, Batch-wise Stock of Drugs, and Drug Categorization for Reporting. Inventory of drugs is maintained in the system. Drugs can be stored and sold through multiple outlets within the same hospital. Internal consumption of drugs and consumables is also tracked through the system by maintaining issues to and returns from various departments such as Operation theatre etc.

The system was designed as a three-tier Client Server type using ADO based data connectivity from Visual Basic to Oracle. A component based design was used. Crystal Reports reporting was used.
